I Almost Bleached My Skin Because Of Racism – Actress Linda Osifo

Linda Osifo, a Nollywood actress, revealed that she nearly bleached her skin while visiting Canada as a result of racial epithets.
The actress revealed during an exclusive interview with Nigerian media personality Chude Jideonwo that the racism she experienced traumatized her and that it originated “within.”
The host questioned, “You mentioned wanting to bleach your skin because you are worried people will call you a monkey when you grow up. Has this occurred?
Yep, said the actress, who was born in Nigeria’s Benin City before relocating to Canada at the age of 16. It undoubtedly takes place. You are aware that it also occurs from your side. That being the case, it is even stranger. Those who are bullied, in my opinion, are never victims of outside bullying. This is internal. Because if somebody else says it, you may not care, but if somebody who is around you, who you are always kind of seeing every other day, says it, it hurts more.”
This happened when I was a teenager in Canada, she continued. The advantage of returning to Nigeria was that I could now see more people who resembled me.
Linda added that she now values herself more as a result of moving to Nigeria.
