It is a great news to have Thomas Partey back, says Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is overjoyed that Thomas Partey has returned to training.

The 30-year-old has missed some crucial Arsenal games due to a groyne injury, but he returned to training on Monday.

The Ghana international trained with his teammates ahead of their Champions League match against RC Lens later tonight.

“He has progressed really well in the last two weeks, and he has managed to train with the team in the last two or three days, which is obviously great news for us,” Arteta said.

“I believe his progress in the last week has been very good.” Depending on how the game goes, he might get some playing time tomorrow.

“He is a big player, and we know what he brings to the team,” he continued. He understands exactly what we require, and with the injuries to other players in midfield and at the back, he complements us well and provides us with options. So it is wonderful to have him back.”

The Ghanaian midfielder will be in contention for Sunday’s crucial match against Manchester City at the Emirates.
