I was forced to choose Messi over Ronaldo to be able to play for Barcelona – Kevin-Prince Boateng reveals

Kevin-Prince Boateng claims he was forced to choose Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player to secure his place at Barcelona.

The former Ghana international spent the 2018-19 season on loan with the Spanish club, where he won La Liga.

“This is one of the biggest lies because I usually say the truth, but I had to lie because I wanted to wear the shirt at Camp Nou for one time,” he told FIVE UK.

Kevin-Prince Boateng stated that he had no choice at the time because he wanted to play for Barcelona.

“They told me you can not say [the best player is Ronaldo]; otherwise, you can not play you.” “I said in a press conference two years ago, when I was playing for Las Palmas, that the best player in the world is Ronaldo, and the best player in the galaxy is Messi,” he said.

Kevin-Prince Boateng announced his retirement from football after the 2022-23 Bundesliga season.
